So Thor is pretty new to this dating game, he's not exactly sure what's expected of him. But from what he's gathered, anniversaries are important, even one-month ones. Which is why he was glad that his suit was finished in time for tonight. He still thinks they're weird, uncomfortable things, but he's willing to put up with it for the way Ele's eyes lit up when he mentioned it. Apparently human women like suits. And, if he's being honest with himself, he looks pretty damn good in this weird earth contraption.

Since they agreed he would come pick her up with one of the SHIELD cars in tow (no, he's not driving, he's got a lowly intern to chauffeur them around, much to the poor kid's combined delight and horror), he took his time getting ready, wanting to look nice for her. He even tied his hair back with one of Natasha's spare elastics; they ended up all over the place. Sometimes he thought she stashed them around just in case she ever decided she needed one but didn't have one handy in her pocket or something. In any case, it serves its purpose, keeping his hair out of his face as he walks up the endless flights of stairs to her door, flowers in hand. He's not sure why cut flowers are customary, they do die, after all, but that's what he's gathered, based on questions he's asked and romantic comedies he's been forced to watch, mostly by Darcy.

Adjusting the weird jacket he's been forced to wear, he knocks on Elenore's door, feeling uncharacteristically anxious.

His past does hurt. Seeing Loki hurts. Everything that reminds him of home hurts. He wants to go back so badly, to be surrounded by things he knows and understands, but that would mean leaving Earth, leaving the Avengers, leaving her. And that's the last thing he wants. She's so good to him, doesn't judge him at all when he's nearly weeping over his fractured relationship with his brother, which means far more to him than he can adequately express. She's willing to patch him up when he's hurt, mother him when he's hungover, soothe him when he wakes from a bad dream. Leaving her is unthinkable.

He smirks, leaning down to steal a quick little kiss. They can't get too distracted, they've got places to be. But one little kiss can't hurt. "Together, we make a fine pair."

The fact is that he might not have to leave her, if he finds a way home. If he asked, chances are very good she'd go with him. What's feeling alien on strange world full of new wonders to feeling alien where she belongs? But she hopes that that's a long way off. Long enough that they know more answers to the questions about each other. Long enough that he'll ask.

One kiss is more than enough to distract Ele terribly. He makes her feel so much more beautiful than she did, and glad she went with a gloss instead of lipstick. "With more blonde hair than the city is used to seeing between us."

He would ask her to come with him, if he ever found a way home. Even though they've only been dating a month, he'd still ask. He loves her. Of course, he has absolutely no idea how the rest of Asgard would react to him marrying a human woman (which is what would be expected, should she return with him), but the Aesir are used to strange things happening, and tend to take it all in stride. Frost giants? Fire dragons? Whippets that poison sources of water to spread blight across the land? A human woman is no stranger than that. Knowing his mother, she'd come up with some way to grant Ele immortality too, basically rendering her a god as well to make it all okay.

He's a little more distracted than he planned to be, too. "They will look upon us and be consumed with jealousy."

It seems they're both more impulsive around each other. Of course, Ele has always been impulsive in her own way. Quitting on grad school, going after a animal or part of animals to study, the times when she's angry enough to go for revenge. She's just never had the emotional reason to exercise that impulse before. Thor gives her every excuse and reason to follow it, only to be rewarded. It'll be interesting when they have their first fight. But that might be a long way off, too.

"Then we had better make sure they get to have that opportunity, before I forget."

Thor is well-known for giving into rash, poorly-planned decisions. He's definitely a follow your heart kind of guy, and it's lead him into a lot of trouble in the past. But he can't imagine anything to do with his sweet girlfriend being a bad idea. He thinks the sun shines out her ass.

"Yes, of course." He steps back, clearing his throat, and smooths down the front of his shirt before offering her his arm. "I have a carriage waiting outside for us." Yes, he means a car.

Magic ass powers have yet to manifest, but you never know with the shit she comes up with. Most of it takes some serious surgery to take effect, but she does live in the same universe as the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, and the Hulk. For now, though, she'll keep to being a not so bad influence in his life on Earth.

She takes his arm with a smile. There are carriages in New York. He could be being serious, or maybe mean a car. Either way, this is going to be fun. "You planned ahead. I'm impressed."

Hey, she's dating a demigod. Who knows what could happen.

If he meant an actual carriage, he'd be using his own, which would be pulled by motherfucking goats. Oh yeah, that's romantic. "We have been romantically involved for a month now. I was told that one should mark occasions such as these with celebration."

Are you kidding? Ele would totally lose her mind and adore the goats. She pretends to be all hard ass, but she only ever seen goats at a zoo. Asgardian goats would be amazing.

She beams with contentment up at him. "Going out to dinner after you got me beautiful flowers only to come home with you seems like a great celebration. I've got a few small gifts for you, too."

Thor loves his goats. To have her fawn over them would be awesome.

He's very careful to help guide her out her door and down the stairs, remembering her unsteadiness the last time she wore heels. He doesn't want her to twist her ankle, after all. That would be a terrible derailment of their plans. "You did? My sweet, you need not have done that. I am content simply with the gift of your company."

She would love on them. Ele claims not to be a pet person. Anyone who's ever seen her with any animal ever knows she's lying.

This is definitely a steadier day than the last time, but stairs are evil, and Thor's arm is always a wonderful thing. There's no steadier assistance when it comes to walking. "It was never about need. It's because I love you, and I wanted to do something that would make you happy."

He knows all about her secret pet feelings. He's seen her with Humperdink, after all. And her reaction to him with Humperdink.

The smile that spreads across his face when she mentions love is probably pretty ridiculous looking, but he doesn't care much. She loves him. That's awesome. "You always make me happy, Elenore."

She loves animals. She loves her animals. Someone she loves who likes her animals? Ele might have proposed then and there on another day. But she's not a pet person. Nope.

He kind of looks like a dork. The fact he kind of looks like a dork just makes him all that more attractive in the moment. She will have to say she loves him more. "And so do you, so there's no reason to not try for a little more. Also, they're pretty goofy, so just be ready for that."

There'll probably be many more opportunities for her heart to explode when he plays with her rats in the lab as he's waiting for her to finish something or other. Thor tends to get bored easily. The rats would be an easy distraction.

He won't complain if she wants to tell him more often. He grins at her, shrugging. "I will like them all the more for their ridiculousness." He doesn't care what they are, that she thought to get him anything at all is enough. And if they're funny, that's even better. He'll think of her and he'll laugh and those are both very good things.

He will find that that's a far too easy way to get her to make googly eyes at him. Her rats are her babies, and he's her love. The combination is kind of the best thing in the world.

"Well then, good." She snuggles a little closer as they get outside through the door. Seeing no carriage, she guesses that the waiting car might be what he means.

She's got excellent eyes for making them go googly. And, of course, he'd love anything about them, even when she looks a little silly.

He does, indeed, mean the car. "My lady." He carefully lets go of her so he can open the car door and offer her a hand inside, sliding in after her once she's situated. The SHIELD intern in the front seat whistles beneath his breath, which both makes Thor puff up with pride -- yeah, she's his girlfriend, suck it! -- and glower menacingly at him -- back off, bitch -- in the rearview mirror.

There's just something great to be said about a gallant prince. Especially when she gets to say it's her gallant prince, and he's opening the door for her. It makes it a little easier to get into the car without flashing anything other than leg. This is important, especially with the unknown guy in the car who whistles. So she remembers her manner enough to say, "Thank you."

Ele waits for Thor to get in and leans against him just slightly. It's not exactly hard to find an excuse given how much space he takes up, but the not so subtle is there and remarkably similar to the message of Thor's dirty look.

Thor looks mollified when she leans against him, reaching out to take her hand and lace their fingers together. He's usually not one for hand-holding -- mostly just because it's not really a thing for him -- but today he feels the need. Also, he's a little concerned that if he wraps his arm around her or something, he's going to be tempted to get fresh with her, which is really not a good idea with another person in the car.

The ride to the restaurant isn't that long, thankfully, and he does what he did at her apartment just in reverse, getting out and offering her a hand.

Ele finds holding his hand soothing enough that she doesn't look at the intern with more than a moment's suspicion. Some instincts don't die easily, and hers are necessary tools. But she needed to tell him where the go since Ele hadn't mentioned the name before. The restaurant served french country style food, which meant large volume in a sophisticated style.

Which is exactly what they'll find out after she takes his hand to get out. The action is far less elegant than getting into the car. She wobbles and has to hold onto Thor with both hands before she takes a step. Not exactly the elegance she was hoping for, but at least he was there.

He's as steady as a rock as he helps her out of the car, a small smile on his face as he watches her wobble. It's endearing, okay, he can't help it. It's not like he thinks any less of her for it.

Once she's out and on her feet, he offers her his arm again. "Shall we?"

She forgives him for smiling at her wobbling for much the same reason he puts up with her teasing. It's okay when you know still matter and the other person person still cares. Besides, she gets to lean against him, and it's impossible not to admit she's not used to not being in closer contact with him when they're together.

She takes his arm and is steady again. "We shall."

She's like a little deer, still unsteady on its feet but graceful nonetheless. And it's true, he's used to holding her much closer than they stand now. He's a tactile dude, Thor is, he can't help wanting to touch constantly. It must be a bit of a shock for some people, but dammit, when he wants to cuddle, he'll cuddle! ...But that can wait for now.

He smiles down at her and steers them into the restaurant, letting her take point again. Even if she doesn't do this often, she knows way more about restaurants and reservations than he does.

Once they're in the restaurant, Ele starts to pretend that she has done this before. She isn't poor, but Ele doesn't really spend her time in expensive places. She has noticed one tendency among humans. Walk confidently in good clothes and the company of someone potentially scary, and people go with it. Thor qualifies, and so does she.

"Reservation for Odinson," she says with a surprisingly authoritative, if aloof, tone, meeting the maitre d's eyes. Years at a school where weakness led to abuse by other students had taught her how to do that. Besides, it saved her having to see how Thor reacted to her using his name.

Thor has eyes only for her, his gaze sharpening when she gives his name to the man behind the little podium. That's so hot. The casual way she says it is even better, like it's no big deal that she's lumping them together like that, accepting his claim to her like she wanted it all along. He's tempted to duck and kiss her hair again, but the eyes of the other patrons stop him -- despite what others may think, Thor does know how to conduct himself in public. That can wait. Instead, he squares his shoulders and puts on his prince face, looking down his nose at the maitre d' like he was one of his father's menservants whom he didn't particularly like. The combination of Thor's look and Ele's haughty demeanor has the man scurrying to find them their table, all helpful deference that Thor takes in stride.

He practically shoulders the man away so he can pull out Ele's chair for her, tucking it under her with a little wink before sitting opposite her.

She feels the shift in Thor's attention and the subtle shift in his posture when she uses his name. Closer, not pulling away. She stands a little straighter, and walks a little taller then, assuming that he had no problem with her using, and therefore claiming a right, to an association with him and his name. He is a prince who was showing, and she somehow, at least on earth, she wasn't falling short.

Of course, it helped that her date is willing to nearly knock the poor man over just to show her courtesy. Her frosty expression melts for him as he winks after helping her find her seat. Apparently he could cut through her persona with just a look.

"Thank you."

Oh, he doesn't have a problem with that, alright. He thinks that's awesome.

Thor is all about courtesy, and it's his job to look after his girlfriend, okay, that guy can just step off. Despite that little performance, he seems oblivious to the fact that most of the people in the restaurant are sneaking covert glances at them. Honestly, he's just used to being stared at.

"You are most welcome, my sweet."

As someone who went to private school, I can tell you they're not.
